우리투데이 이동현 기자 |  경기도는 판교테크노밸리 입주기업 ‘에바(EVAR)’가 최근 270억 원 규모의 이동식 전기차 충전시설 제작·구매 사업 계약을 체결하는 등 국내외 전기차 충전시장 공략에 속도를 내고 있다고 7일 밝혔다. 에바는 2022년 경기도 ‘글로벌 스타트업 육성사업’의 사업화 지원을 받은 대표 스타트업이다.

‘글로벌 스타트업 육성사업’은 경기도와 경기도경제과학진흥원이 추진하는 창업지원 정책으로, 판교테크노밸리 내 기술혁신형 스타트업의 글로벌 진출과 성장을 지원한다. 제품개발, 시장개척, 통번역, 투자유치(IR) 등 창업 기업이 해외시장으로 나아갈 수 있도록 실질적이고 단계적인 프로그램을 제공한다.

에바는 삼성전자 사내벤처 프로그램 C랩에서 분사해 2018년 설립된 전기차 충전솔루션 전문기업으로, 세계 최초 자율주행 자동충전 로봇과 이동형 충전기를 개발해 시장을 개척했다. 이번에 수주한 충전시설 사업은 전국 산간·응급·임시시설 등 충전 사각지대에 충전기를 직접 운반해 서비스를 제공하는 방식으로, 전기차 충전 인프라의 실질적 확대를 의미한다.

사업은 한국자동차환경협회가 발주했으며, 총 151대(270억 원)의 이동식 충전시설을 전국에 보급하는 내용이다. 에바는 채비, 이온어스와 컨소시엄을 구성해 사업에 참여해 최종 계약을 체결했다. 이는 단일 스타트업이 공공 부문에서 이룬 의미 있는 성과로, ‘충전 난민’ 해소에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이번 성과 외에도 에바는 전국 2만 대 이상 충전기를 보급하고, 스마트 로드밸런싱 충전 인프라 등 전력 효율을 높이는 기술을 상용화했다. 캐나다에는 250만 달러 규모의 수출 계약을 체결했으며, CES에서 2년 연속 5개 부문 혁신상 수상, 중소벤처기업부 장관상 표창을 수상하는 등 글로벌 기술력을 입증했다.
또한, 지난 5월에는 일본 정부로부터 완속충전기 보조금을 받기 위한 필수 요건인 일본자동차연구소(JARI; Japan Automobile Reserarch Institue)의 완속충전기 인증을 공식 취득, 일본 진출을 위한 기술력을 인정받아 본격적인 일본 진출이 기대된다.
실제로 에바는 ‘글로벌 스타트업 육성사업’ 지원 이후 뚜렷한 성장세를 보이고 있다. 2021년 기준 5억9천만 원이던 매출은 2024년 73억6천만 원으로 약 12.5배 증가했고, 투자유치도 Pre-A(시리즈A) 단계의 65억 원에서 시리즈B 단계 220억 원으로 3.4배 이상 확대됐다. 고용 역시 33명에서 69명으로 늘며, 본격적인 성장단계에 진입했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
경기도는 에바 사례를 통해 판교테크노밸리의 혁신 스타트업들이 정책적 지원을 통해 실질적인 투자유치와 글로벌 진출 성과를 거두고 있음을 강조하고, 앞으로도 해외 진출 스타트업의 성장 발판 마련에 힘쓸 계획이다.

정한규 경기도 첨단모빌리티산업과장은 “에바는 기술력과 시장개척 모두를 성공적으로 이룬 경기도 스타트업의 대표 모델”이라며 “앞으로도 전기차 생태계를 선도할 수 있는 혁신 기업을 발굴하고, 도내 기업이 세계 무대에 진출할 수 있도록 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that Pangyo Techno Valley tenant company ‘EVAR’ is accelerating its push into domestic and international electric vehicle charging markets, recently securing a 27 billion won contract for the production and purchase of mobile electric vehicle charging facilities. EVAR is a representative startup that received commercialization support through Gyeonggi Province's ‘Global Startup Fostering Project’ in 2022.
The ‘Global Startup Fostering Project’ is a startup support policy promoted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, supporting the global expansion and growth of technology-innovative startups within Pangyo Techno Valley. It provides practical, step-by-step programs to help startups advance into overseas markets, covering areas such as product development, market development, translation/interpretation, and investment attraction (IR).
EVA, a specialized EV charging solutions company spun off from Samsung Electronics' internal venture program C-Lab and established in 2018, pioneered the market by developing the world's first autonomous charging robot and mobile charger. The charging facility project it recently secured involves directly transporting chargers to charging blind spots nationwide, such as mountainous areas, emergency sites, and temporary facilities, to provide service. This signifies a substantial expansion of EV charging infrastructure.
The project, commissioned by the Korea Automobile Environment Association, involves deploying a total of 151 mobile charging units (worth 27 billion won) nationwide. Eva participated in the project as part of a consortium with Chabi and Ion Earth, ultimately securing the contract. This represents a significant achievement for a single startup in the public sector and is expected to contribute to alleviating the ‘charging refugee’ problem.
Beyond this achievement, EVA has deployed over 20,000 chargers nationwide and commercialized power efficiency technologies like smart load balancing charging infrastructure. It secured a $2.5 million export contract in Canada, won CES Innovation Awards in five categories for two consecutive years, and received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award, demonstrating its global technological prowess.
Furthermore, in May, EVA officially obtained the slow-charging station certification from the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI), a mandatory requirement for receiving slow-charging station subsidies from the Japanese government. This recognition of its technological capabilities for entering the Japanese market paves the way for its full-scale expansion into Japan.
Indeed, EVA has shown remarkable growth since receiving support from the ‘Global Startup Fostering Project’. Revenue, which stood at 590 million won in 2021, surged approximately 12.5 times to 7.36 billion won in 2024. Investment attraction also expanded more than 3.4 times, from 6.5 billion won in the Pre-A (Series A) stage to 22 billion won in the Series B stage. Employment also grew from 33 to 69 employees, indicating the company has entered a full-fledged growth phase.
Gyeonggi Province highlights Eva's case as proof that innovative startups in Pangyo Techno Valley are achieving tangible investment attraction and global expansion through policy support. The province plans to continue efforts to provide a growth platform for startups expanding overseas.
Jeong Han-gyu, Director of Gyeonggi Province's Advanced Mobility Industry Division, stated, “Eva is a representative model of a Gyeonggi startup that has successfully achieved both technological prowess and market expansion,” adding, “We will continue to discover innovative companies capable of leading the electric vehicle ecosystem and support provincial companies in advancing onto the global stage.”
